Flowerbomb: The scent of heartbreak.

There is no doubt about it, Flowerbomb is my favourite perfume ever! Although due to its price I only get a bottle on special occasions, such as around Christmas or my birthday as a gift or, which has quickly become a weird but highly enjoyable tradition, when I break up with somebody.

Originally my mum had bought me a bottle as a way to cheer me up as I was in a month long sulk after breaking up with my first boyfriend, it helped slightly in mending my broken heart but mostly just made me smell delicious.  Then this tradition carried on again with my next stunt of boy troubles and yet another bottle arrived in my hands earlier this month, so now here I am with my third bottle of post-break up perfume and I love it just as much as ever.

I've tried numerous different perfumes and NONE of them last as long as this, I once sprayed a sample on myself and a week later my coat still smelled of it. Its fruity, sweet and oh so delicious if I could have all my shampoos, shower gels, body lotions EVERYTHING smell like this I really would. This is a perfume I shall never ever get bored of, even if I now associate it with break ups.

Middlesbrough Blogger Meet Up.

A couple of Sunday's ago I was lucky enough to be invited to a blogger meet up in Middlesbrough, organised by the gorgeous Megan. I love blogger meet ups as they give you a chance to meet and mingle with like minded people, they're my favourite type of event.

I hopped on the train with a few other bloggers and travelled down to Middlesbrough and headed to Mink tattoo bar and cafe. I've been to Middlesbrough quite a lot, though haven't visited in 2 years so it was strange being back in the city, especially as i've never been to Mink before. The venue itself had amazing decor with fairy lights and waltzer cars as seats!

(A meet up wouldnt be the same without a photo of Amy with a camera for a face)

We all hung around the downstairs bar section, all snapping photos and updating instragram with photo's of the venue. Quite a few of us all knew each other anyway so we all had a catch up over diet coke and cocktails.  It wasn't long before we were all greeted by Megan and had our names called out, given a little name sticker and told to head on upstairs where we had our photo snapped!

We sat down at tables covered in sweets (which our group demolished in a matter of seconds) and spent the next few hours mingling with each other. There was also a super fun game of pass the parcel, one of my favourite games in primary school. Sadly I didn't win, we also had a raffle to win a selection of amazing prices! Overall the event was a blast! I'd like to thank Megan for working so hard and pulling off such an amazing day!

Make-up Haul: M.A.C and Sleek.

Now for some reason Make up isn't something I usually spend a lot of money on. However whilst on my holiday in Canada my cousin revealed to me she can get a 50% discount on MAC make-up along with other things and if I ever wanted anything all i had to to was ask. THAT WAS FAR TO TEMPTING! I justified a few MAC purchases by the fact I hardly spent any of my holiday spending money when I was there so I sent her my shopping list.

There are a few mac lipsticks I have been eyeing up for quite some time now and often debate weather I should take the plunge and purchase them or not. One of these being Lady Danger (the other being Morange) I opted for Lady danger as red lipstick is the one colour I knew i'd get a lot of wear out of!

Isn't she the most beautiful thing you've ever seen? I gave her a test run the other night whilst at a gig and I am besotted. Even though the finish is matte my lips still felt nourished and mmmm delicious. I can see myself repurchasing this when I wear this colour to death.

The other lipstick I got was So Chaud which is described as a "intense reddish-orange" which I think is a nicer subtler version of Morange as now i'm a redhead i'm not sure how much i'd suit an orange lipstick. I haven't given this colour a test run yet, but I am very excited to wear it.

Now I couldn't have a MAC shopping trip without picking up Mineralize skin finish soft and gentle. I've tried so many different highlighters over the years and this is one i've always been meaning to pick up AND NOW ITS MINE! There hasn't been a single day since I got this where I haven't worn it. Its my new favourite thing.

I also thought i'd include my new Sleek au naturel palette too as I've been super excited to try this. Ive been using the MUA Undressed and Heaven and Earth  palette which are getting a little worse for wear and are headed for the bin. I thought i'd try something news this time (especially as every time I go to buy Undressed/Undressed 2 its never in stock)

Lush Event!

Yes I am aware I posted not that long ago saying I was going to try and vary my posts a little more instead of just talking about blogging events i’ve been to but I’ve not really done much else recently so you will have to put up with this for a little while longer as last month I was lucky enough to be able to go along to an event hosted by Danny at the Lush store in the MetroCentre Gateshead. Lush has always been a shop that i’ve loved since I was a kid, I used to just enjoy going in to stand and sniff, much to my mum's dislike as it gives her a headache. But their bath bombs have to be my all time favourite thing ever, so I was super excited to go along and get an insight into the brand.

As we arrived we were welcomed wonderfully by Danny and three of his super friendly staff members and were quickly filled in on the history and the values behind Lush as a company. Now I’ve always been aware that Lush are a company who are very much against animal testing, however I quickly discovered they are infact a company who go one step further and FIGHT against animal testing which just made me love it even more! We were told stories of how the company started up (once making products for The Body Shop) how particular products were designed and even got the chance to sniff some pure coco butter, which I had to stop myself from eating - IT SMELT LIKE WHITE CHOCOLATE!

After all the sniffing and the prodding of products that were past amongst us as a group we were given the chance to get our hands dirty and make some of our own! Now this is where I become a terrible blogger because I didn’t actually take any photographs of this - my camera is still pretty new and I am a little over protective over her so popped her into my bag as we did this. Oops.

But anyway, we were split into two groups to take turns in making two different Lush products. The first being Angels On Bare Skin. So as a group we all donned our latex gloves and got stuck in and at the end had a full sized pot of the cleanser to take home with us. This was probably my favourite part of the whole event, I loved being able to have a go at making Lush products and see what goes into them - which can I add was around 4 natural ingredients which amazed me.  I’ve used the product quite a lot since the event and I love it, still can’t quite get the hang of using it without making my bathroom sink look like an explosion has occurred in it but i’ll get there eventually.

The second product we made was a bath ballistic Space Girl, this isn’t a bath bomb i’ve ever used before but its full of glitter and popping candy so really what’s not to love? Not to mention is smells like my childhood and looks like a planet - all boxes fully ticked for me.

I wasn’t particularly good at actually making the bath bomb as I seemed to spread the mixture everywhere (later discovered there was a hole in my bag and a purple pile underneath my feet) but it was fun all the same! I actually tried this bath bomb out a few nights ago and I was a smidgen disappointed that it didn’t snap crackle and pop as much as I thought it would. However there was a limited amount of popping candy to go around between the group so I just think mine didn’t have enough in. But the smell of the bath bomb and the fact I emerged from my bath as a wonderful sparkling goddess is enough to tempt me to buy it myself.

After we had finished making the products we were able to snoop around the store, stuff our faces with cupcakes and lemonade and buy products with an amazing 10% discount - uh oh sorry bank balance! I also went a little crazy and photographed pretty much everything in the store, but Lush is beautiful so I really couldn’t help myself.

TheNEBloggers Lunch MEAT up @ The Gourmet Burger Kitchen

On sunday I went a long to a small lunch date organised by TheNEBloggers - a blogging network based in the north east of England. If you yourself are a blogger of any variety and live in the North East of England I highly recommend you check TheNEBloggers out. Its a lovely little community of some really lovely guys and gals and i’m really happy to have befriended them.

On Sunday we all attended a fabulous event at Lush in Gateshead and decided to meet for lunch beforehand. Our original plan was to go to the new Ed’s Diner that’s just opened up, however the original guest list of around 20 we decided a little too much for the poor place to handle so we opted for the Gourmet Burger Kitchen instead. In the end only 10 of us went along - much to the anger of the head chef - who seemed quite frazzled by our large party.

Although there was a large group of us and normally for a meal out this causes havoc, the “go up to the bar and order/pay” system made everything a lot simpler. The choices of how you could have your burger were never-ending with a variety of sizes, fillings, sides and extras. I opted for a Avocado Bacon burger which was cooked medium (a bizarre sight here in England) and a portion of skinny fries which were delicious! Unfortunately I was far too eager to tuck into my food as i’d not eaten all day so I forgot to take a photo, but believe me it was delightful.

Newcastle Fashion Week: Fashion Weekender

NE1 Fashion week, Fashion, Fbloggers, Fashion Show,

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be given a free ticket to the Newcastle Fashion Week: Fashion Weekend Saturday event. But me being the wonderfully organised person I am put this ticket in a safe place and then forgot where this place was. Sadly because of this, and the fact my brother was visiting from London, I didn’t get to go to the Saturday. However after some very quick persuasion I decided to join Amy and Amy on the Sunday before we all went to the Gateshead Lush Event.

Now I have to admit the event itself wasn’t quite as big as I thought it was going to be, but it was still a really enjoyable day. There were a number of stalls selling clothes around the venue, my favourite being Mod Dolly - a clothing brand i’ve recently discovered through other bloggers and quickly fallen in love with. There was a few items which I really wanted to buy, a polka dot shirt, a gingham dress. However I am forcing myself not to spend any more money on clothes until at least august as i’ve been very naughty the past two months with unnecessary purchases.

There were a number of events going on throughout the day all being presented by Made In Chelsea’s Ollie Locke (who is gorgeous might I add) One of the events being a demonstration of the infamous “Geordie Blow dry” and various different ways to style the hair with a Geordie plait and a
Bardotte-esque style. Now as somebody with very fine straight hair volume is something I am forever on a hunt for, i’ve tried so many products but nothing has ever really worked. But alas the Geordie Blow Dry may be my saviour, I will definitely be trying out some of the techniques shown next time I go out into Newcastle.

Body Butter Bonanza

On Friday night I was lucky enough to be able to attend another blogger event, this time in my local Body Shop store. I didn’t think I was going to be going as the event was full but luckily somebody pulled out at the last minute and Maddie who was running it,sent me a message saying i’d gotten a place. I ran around frantically trying to finish my essay, paint my nails, do my hair all at once!

Since I was a little girl i’ve always loved Body Shop Products (weirdly I used to eat the flavoured lip balms straight out of the pot) so I was so excited to be able to go to this, and it was perfect timing as i’m nearly at the bottom of my huge tub of Satsuma Body Butter - I can’t cope without it.

There was so much going on at the event, we were able to browse the array of products (we were given a 50% off discount which my bank account is hating me for now) we had the chance to receive hand massages, skin consultations and even get our make up done. Of course there was, as always amazing nibbles provided by my favourite Newcastle Bakery The French Oven and Millies cookies  and bucks-fizz for us to drink

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this event, it was small, cosy and felt like I was on a shopping trip with 20 other girls who also happened to be snapping photographs of everything around us (passers by kept staring at us all like we were from another planet) I got to see some of the girls i’d met at the FABB event last month and even got to see some new faces, however due to my social awkwardness I didn’t get to speak to them, sorry ladies!

6 Hours Of Tea And Cake.

Although I haven’t really been blogging ‘properly’ for all that long so far its been a whirlwind of a ride,   having attended the FABB Newcastle event earlier this month - which you can read about HERE - i’ve met some really lovely ladies whom I feel i’ll be friends with for a very long time. Last saturday I was lucky enough to be invited to Amy-Lauren’s 19th birthday tea party at Serendipity tea and trinkets in Sunderland. We were told to dress ‘vintage’ so I opted for a sort of 1950’s theme, though i’m not sure how well I pulled that off in a chiffon mint dress from Primark.

I can’t explain how lovely last saturday was, we sat and munched on ham, chicken and cheese sandwiches and a selection of gorgeous cakes and scones, not to mention about a million cups of tea between us all. Whilst we were there a music festival Soundscape was happening in the city, so we were lucky enough to sit and listen to a few live performances in the cafe. My favourite being THE LAKE POETS who I think are now my new favourite thing, ever! A really really beautiful sound that you should MUST check out.  Overall I had a really lovely day and I just want to thank Amy-Lauren for being so kind as to invite me along.
