Intu Metro Centre: Style Garden

At the end of last week I popped along to Intu Metro-Centre with Rachel and Laura for the Style Garden Event. No photographs I have taken can do this event justice for how truly beautiful it was. I felt like I was at the worlds best garden party filled with beautiful brands, beautiful people and beautiful clothes.

The event was in collaboration with House of Fraser and featured a huge selection of different beauty brands such as Decleor, Kiehls, Creme De La Mer and Murad. Plus a huge selection of clothes handpicked from stores within Intu Metro Centre itself.

On arrival we were greeted with prosecco and bellini's thanks to Oh You Pretty things and nibbles from Bella Italia, which sadly I didn't get a chance to try. After a tipple or two we started to have a wander around to chat to all the different brands.

Next we headed over to Decleor for a mini demonstration of a few of their products. We even got whisked away to have a peek at their beauty room, which is well and truly hidden in the back of House of Fraser. You really are missing a treat as its the most amazing and relaxing place I have ever been in and I could have so easily have lay down for a nap there and then. In our goody bag we received a voucher to go have a facial in the beauty rooms which I am so excited for - I just need to find a day where I'm free to head over and get a pamper.

After a little mooch around and a fair few cocktails we all sat down for a little fashion demonstration from Intu Metro Centre's very own stylist Michaela Dale. Here we went through the upcoming trends for the spring and summer season including brights, cut out/lace designs and without a doubt my favourite trend, stripes. I may have found the most perfect striped shirt ever thanks to Whistles which is sadly way out of my price range, but I got some amazing ideas of how to mix my stripes and lots of inspiration for my spring and summer wardrobe.

I really enjoyed chatting to all the different skincare brands like Liz Earle, Kiehls and Murad as I've really found myself leaning more towards skincare products than I have make up products at the moment. I finally had my skin analyzed by Kiehls and that my skin type is basically what I suspected it was. But now I've officially had it confirmed I feel I can really start treating it in the best way I can. Spring/Summer 16 shall be the summer of glorious skin and hopefully looser fitting trousers.

Body Shop Eldon Square: Drops Of Light.

Last week I was lucky enough to be selected alongside AmyChloe and Laura to attend an event at the newly refurbished The Body Shop in Eldon Square for an evening of beauty, pampering and of course a little bit of shopping too.

I really enjoyed that there was only four of us at the event, as it allowed for a really personal one to one experience where you really felt looked after. We each started at a different area of the shop, I started at make up where I was introduced to a few of the new The Body Shop make-up products. I've never really used any of their make up, so it was really interesting to hear about some of their new releases. I was really interested in the shade adjusting drops and they're pretty much a life saver for us paler ladies. Theres two colours, one thats white for lightening foundations that are two dark (for me pretty much all foundations ever) and theres a darker shade to darken up foundation to allow for a wider spectrum of colours.

After having a nosey around at the make-up I naturally gravitated forwards the body butters - my all time favourite products from The Body Shop. I had a good chatter on with one of the lovely ladies hosting the event about the nostalgia that many of the products bring. For me the satsuma body butter always reminds me of high school and how one girl thought somebody in my english class was eating oranges, when really it was my skin that she could smell.

After my little mooch around it was my turn for a little hand massage and a pamper. First we used the Spa of the World Dead Sea Scrub, which I loved so much I ended up buying myself as I've never felt skin so soft before. Then we used the grapefruit body butter, which always reminds me of my mum, and I continued to spend the next five minutes just sniffing and stroking my hands. A few years ago I would always avoid anything that involved a stranger massaging or rubbing my hands/face but after a facial with Murad and a hand massage at Molton Brown last year I am now actually obsessed and wish I could have them everyday.

The final part of the event was a skin consultation with their skincare expert, however I had to leave so I didn't get a chance to have mine so I'm going to pop back to the shop when I'm next free and see if the ladies can fit me in. Over the past year skincare has really become a passion of mine and I really love learning about new skincare products and how to best take care of my skin.

We were lucky enough to receive a few products to try out for ourselves, the 'Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil ' and The 'Sleeping Cream' that both contain black cumin oil, rose hip oil and camellia seed oil which along with 7 other essentials oils that help to soothe and calm your skin for a radiant glow. The Vitamin E range is my favourite so I was chuffed to see a bottle of the 'Aqua Boost Essence Lotion' which launches on the 26th of April. This product is the perfect first step of hydration, you use it after you've cleansed and toned to lock in moisture and acts as a magnet to your moisturiser as it contains hyaluronic acid - my all time favourite skincare product.

The best thing is if you pop into The Body Shop at Intu Eldon Square and quote 'Alice's Wonder Emporium' you will receive a special discount and your own little goody bag of treats. You're welcome ;)

The Book Nook

Book Nook, Home, interiors, bookshelf, booktube, bookblogger, book blogger

As I mentioned in my little 'Life Update' post last week, I've recently moved into a new flat with my boyfriend. Over the past month we have slowly been trying to get the flat as homely as possible. Slowly adding little touches here and there , I must admit we still have a lot of work to do, however theres a few areas of the flat that are already coming together quite nicely.

There is no doubt about it, our little book nook is my all time favourite part of the flat. This little cove is based at the back of our living room and I knew almost instantly how I wanted it to look. I think we had been in the flat for about three days and I already had this little corner unpacked and looking beautiful. As you can see we have an Ikea Hemnes bookshelf which houses my fiction books co-ordinated by colour. Lets ignore bottom two shelves, which currently have my book series on, I really want to get my hands on another little bookcase for these. But for now theres this little drawer unit I picked up from my local charity shop for £8 and up-cycled, I don't think this really fits here but it'll do for now.

I really enjoying styling bookshelves with little trinkets and objects we have collected over the years, we currently mostly have Lego and Pop Vinyl figures, but I do have a few items in mind that I want to add onto these shelves. In my parents place I felt like I had loads of trinkets because they were all in one small space, now we've moved out I don't seem to have enough.

Alongside our bookshelves we have added plants, pops of copper and this little wooden cracket (again from Ikea) to break up the white and grey a little. really think the touches of wood and greenery really help to liven up the place, I love plants to add a little colour into the flat without being too much.

So thats our little book nook. Theres still a few additions we want to make to this area like nice rug, some more artwork on the walls and an floor lamp. But for now I really love it and I hope you do too.

What I've Been Up To This Month

If you read my last post you will have seen that I've had a mini hiatus due to computer difficulties. But you'll be happy to know I am writing this post via a brand new iMac and I am officially back online!  I feel like I've not been around properly for ages and ages, so I thought I'd give you a little update on what I've been up to over the past few weeks.

Lancome, Juicy Shakers, #bantheboring, Beauty bloggers, bbloggers

Even though I haven't been blogging as much as I'd like, I've still managed to attend a few blogger events. I always find that in the North-East there will be a quiet lull of no events then BOOM, loads of them come along at once. They always remind me of how much I love attending these and mingling with my fellow NEBloggers.

A few weeks ago I was invited along to the Lancome counter in the Fenwick store in Newcastle nice and early on a Saturday morning. This mini event was to introduce us all to the new Lancome Juicy Shakers lip products. I'd seen these mentioned a few times on the youtube, but didn't really know too much about them. Basically they're a mix of pigment and oils that you have to shake up to activate. I must admit Chloe and myself quite enjoyed just shaking them, like a teeny tiny cocktail. I normally wear quite bold matte lipsticks so this was a really nice change as the product felt super nourishing on my lips. I didn't think the colour pay off was amazing on its own, but maybe I just prefer really bold lip products. It would be great to layer over the top of a lipstick to give you an added boost and nourishment for spring summer.

thaikhun, Thai, Pad Thai, thai green curry, intu metrocentre,

If you don't know already, Newcastle is currently undergoing a revamp in Intu Eldon Square and Intu Metro Centre and we are being introduced to a number of new and exciting restaurants over the next year. I was excited to be invited to the V.I.P launch night for Thaikhun, a beautiful thai restaurant. I'm sad to say I didn't get many photos of the restaurant itself as we were tucked away in a cosy little corner. But I can assure you the interior is amazing, theres just so much to look at!

We were lucky enough to sample a wide selection of the menu, starting off with a mixed platter of salt and pepper squid, thai fishcakes, honey pork and spring rolls. I've got to say the salt and pepper squid was A-MAZE-ING like so good I couldn't have eaten a restaurant full of it.  We were then given a selection of main dishes to try, Pad Thai, Thai Green Curry, Chicken Salad and Pork in Red Curry sauce. All were amazing and punched a fiery kick. Also, can we just talk about how amazing this cocktail looks? Served in a takeaway carton, whats not to love!

Bullet Journal, Journal, Diary, Planning, lbloggers, Lifestyle Bloggers

One thing I've started recently is a bullet journal. The basis is that you design and layout your diary however you wish, giving you the freedom to be creative and not to be restricted by pre-set out diaries. The system is supposed to allow all your organising needs to be in one place, giving yourself an overview of the month, the week and even the day. Allowing you to slowly tick off tasks or migrate them to other days if needed.

For me its been really useful to have everything all in one place. I used to have a diary in my handbag for work and social stuff, another diary for blogging, plus numerous notebooks scattered all over the house. This way I can have it all in one place, plus enjoy jazzing it up and making it look pretty.

iMac, Office, Shelfie, Shelves, Organised, Lifestyle Blogger, lbloggers

Now I finally having a work computer again, it's motivated me to get my office in order and make it look cute. I finally fitted some shelves a few weeks ago and I've gotten one of them looking quite cute. The other one however looks like a shit-tip, so we will just ignore that one. I've got a small selection of prints and photographs to decorate the walls soon, and I made myself a cute little pom pom garland to hang across my shelf brackets.

But I am really enjoying having a designated desk space to work, keeping myself away from any distractions like Netflix and Jeremy Kyle. So hopefully i'll end be a little more productive on my days off work.
