I'm going to be honest here, skincare isn't my best skill. I always have the intentions of researching products and finding out what works best with my skin type (which I think is combination) but truth be told I don't do any of that. I generally go by the mantra of if I like what I'm using I'll carry on using it. Does that make any sense? I think because my skin is neither super oily or super dry I tend not to worry too much about if a product is 'right' for my skin type. I won't worry if I'm using a moisturiser thats aimed at oily skin or dry skin as I'm a combination of the two. But recently I've found myself reaching for the same products over and over again. So I thought today I'd give you a quick run through the products I'm loving and how I use them in my routine.
Generally my morning skincare routine is pretty quick and easy. I get up and out of bed and head straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth and clean my face. Micellar water is my favourite product to use in the morning as its quick, its easy and it means I can sleep for longer. I don't worry too much about if the Micellar water gives my skin a deep clean, as I've already done that the night before when I've taken my make up off. Its enough of a cleanse to freshen my face up and remove any grime from during the night. I always opted for the Garnier Micellar Water and for a while I picked it up in Primark of all places, as it was the cheapest price I'd found it. But they've stopped selling it as they're brought out their own Micellar water, so I thought I might as well give it ago as £2 is a price I can't say no to. So far I'm really enjoying using it, its gentle on my skin and removes any left over mascara that may have appeared during the night. For moisturiser I'm not really loyal to one product. At the moment I'm trying to use up my drawer full of sample size products I've gotten in goodie bags, so my moisturiser changes on a monthly basis. I'm currently using the Ren Evercalm Day Cream which I'm really enjoying. It keeps my skin nourished and moisturised without having to sit for ages and let it soak in before I apply my make up.
As most people, my nighttime routine is a lot more long winded and contains more products than my morning routine. I always try and aim to take my make-up off as soon as I am home from work, I roll through the door, shove my hair up into a big lump on the top of my head and remove the days make up and grime. I recently picked up Liz Earl's Cleanse and Polish and I forgot how much I adore this product. I remember using this as a teenager (I pinched it from my Mum) and it was my favourite way to take off my make up as its quick easy and foolproof and takes my make up off perfectly. I then follow up with Pixi Glow Tonic, which I was lucky enough to receive for christmas. This is a product I've been wanting to try for a while and I now totally get the hype! My skin has never felt so smooth since I started using this, its a miracle worker. I admit it did make my face look a little red the first few times I used it, this soon settled down.
I tend to then leave my face alone until it gets to bedtime, as I like to leave the Pixi Glow to work its magic on its own for a few hours. Just before bed I head back into the bathroom to brush my teeth and apply my evening moisturiser, at the moment I'm using the Aurelia Cell revitalise night moisturiser* which I was lucky enough to win through a twitter competition. I think this is my favourite part of my skincare routine, my skin feels plump and soft and smells incredible! My final step is to either apply Kiehls Midnight Recovery concentrate* or the Nuxe Multi-purpose dry oil which I like to slowly massage into my face as a little evening de-stress just before bed.
So thats the skincare products I'm loving at the moment. Do you have any favourites you would recommend?
