Bedroom Decor and Cushion Covers*

As you may know, we recently changed our bedroom around a little. Our flat has two bedrooms and we previously had the larger one as our bedroom and the smaller as our office. But having house/cat sat for a neighbour a while ago I saw how she had the smaller room as her bedroom, and it looked super cosy. So we decided to have a move around and create a cosy peaceful little room to sleep. We kept the wardrobes in the larger room,  as I used to do my hair and makeup in the office anyway, so it just made sense to make the larger room an office/dressing room.

We’ve since painted the new bedroom all white to freshen it up, plus its south facing so it gets all the sun. We also treated ourselves to an Ikea Hemnes drawer unit to keep all our underwear, PJ’s and basic vests and t-shirts in,  I also managed to nab a huge silver mirror from a charity shop, which looks great above the drawer unit and really finishes that corner of the room off.

Because our decor is quite minimal we’ve added colour through the accessories, which are easy to change and is great if you don’t have a huge budget, or like me and you would rather spend your money on shoes. Our general colour scheme is white, grey, blush pink and a pale mint/duck egg colour. This is similar in our living room too so it’s easy to move accessories from one room to another when I fancy a change around.

If you’re like me and often change your mind on what colour scheme you want, changing cushions covers and bedding is a great way to change a room without spending a fortune. So many places now let you buy just cushion covers too which is even better so you won’t end up with cushions coming out of your ears. You can just switch the covers for a quick change in decor. Cheap cushion covers on Yorkshire Linen don’t cost much and they are a great way to give an instant boost to the entire room.

We are slowly and surely getting our bedroom how we want, adding little touches here and there each month. I do have my eye on a new bed frame as ours is the white Ikea Leirvik frame, and Lee’s feet often pop out the bottom. Plus I still have our bedside drawers to up-cycle as they were given to me from my parents and are currently a dark oak colour. I’m hoping to paint them white and possible spray the drawer handles copper, as who doesn’t love a bit of copper. When I eventually get around to completely finishing the bedroom I’ll be sure to post lots of photos for you all.
