Starting this weekend begins my favourite event of year, Fenwick beauty week. This event takes place over the space of a week starting today, in which you can undergo a number of different treatments or masterclasses in the beauty hall. My favourites this year being, Charlotte Tilbury masterclass on how to achieve her signature golden goddess look and the Clarins summer skin masterclass to help you achieve the perfect summer skin. You can read about all the different events happening here. Not only is there an amazing range of classes to attend, but you can also be in with a chance to receive an amazing beauty bag when you spend over £75 between the 7th and 15th of may.
I was lucky enough to be invited down to Fenwick Newcastle for the second year in a row for a little taster of what was available during beauty week. Last year helped cure my fear of makeup counters, which you can read about here. Just like last year, this year’s little event certainly did not disappoint.
Firstly we were greeted at Mason and Rye situated in the food hall, for a little introduction to the evening’s events, alongside some delicious little cakes and Prosecco. Here we where we were able to choose which treatments we fancied. I must say we did all strategically hover near the ones we wanted as some had a select number of slots available.
Last year we were able to select three shorter treatments in 15-minute intervals. This year, however, we selected two, one at 6 pm and one at 7 pm. Even though last year we were able to choose extra treatments once everybody had chosen and experience a lot more of the different counters. However, I felt this year was a lot more personal and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to have more in-depth treatments. The two treatments I opted for were a shellac luxury manicure at the Clarins Spa, followed by one to one skincare session at Dermalogica with a FaceMapping skin analysis and a Microzone Facial.
I’ve only ever had a manicure once before but never using shellac gel polish. I tend to paint my nails quite a lot, however really struggle to keep it chip free for longer than 12 hours. So I was really excited to try something with a stronger staying power than my usual polish. I’m going to admit I had no idea Clarins has a spa inside the beauty hall, let alone that they did manicures and pedicures. With the luxury manicure I was treated to a hand and arm exfoliation and skin treatment before my shellac was applied. I opted for a gorgeous pastel blue, spring has gotten me obsessed with pastels again, topped with a gorgeous silver glitter. These photo’s don’t do the colour justice at all, its super super sparkly and gorgeous.
I then hopped two steps away to the Dermalogica counter for my facial and skin mapping treatment. I was greeted by a lovely skincare expert Cat, who took me through a few questions about my skincare routine and any concerns I had. She began with gorgeous pre-cleanse and an amazing steam system to remove all my make up whilst I laid down and relaxed. She then looked at the 14 different zones on my face and pin pointed any issues I may have. I discovered I have some sensitivity across my cheeks and nose which I’ve never considered before, but it makes sense as I do notice redness in my cheeks from time to time.
She then mixed up a personally made face mask made of oats, which smelt so much like breakfast that I wanted to eat it. Alongside this she used electrodes in which I held onto a rod like contraption whilst she ran another over my face. This helps the treatment to work in the deeper layers of your skin which helps the treatment to continue working for the next 4-5 days. I truly cannot recommend this treatment enough, it allowed me to really understand my skin type and discover things about it I didn’t realise, not to mention it was incredibly relaxing.
What treatments would are you planning on going to this Fenwick Beauty Week?
