EXPLORING ORGANIC SKINCARE
If you’ve been following me for a few years you’ll know I made the decision to only buy make up and skincare that was cruelty-free. But other than that, I’ve never really considered too much about what I was using on my skin and what those products contained and how these were manufactured.
If I’m being really honest, skincare is that area in my routine where I can let it slip a little bit – but over the past 3-4 months I’ve been really trying to make a more conscious effort to be more mindful on how I’m treating my skin and looking after it a little better.
Over the last month I’ve been trialling some new products in my routine by Alteya Organics, who specialise in organic skincare that’s completely free from artificial colours and fragrances, parabens and sulphates.
ROSE AND MULLEIN RANGE
Over the past month I’ve been using the Gentle Brightening Cleanser and Pure Moisture Face Cream. Both products are in the Rose and Mullein skincare range – which aims to illuminate and renew skin. The range contains Bulgarian Rose Otto, Mullein Flower extract and Candeia Bark Extract – ingredients which help to tone superficial capillaries, absorb invisible UV radiation and tame irritation whilst softening fine line and wrinkles.
Sounds fancy doesn’t it?
The first thing I noticed when using these two products was the scent. I’m going to be honest here but I wasn’t that keen to begin with. The products have what I can only describe as a ‘natural’ smell – you can tell no artificial fragrances have been used.
After using it for a while now I am used to the smell and don’t mind it too much anymore. But if you’re like me and have been used to using skincare packed with artificial fragrances and chemicals to make them smell fruity and feminine, then you’ll probably take time to adjust.
The cleanser is really gentle on my skin and doesn’t leave it looking red and angry, which some cleansers can do as my skin can sometimes be sensitive. But leaves me skin feeling clean and removed traces of make up that may still be lingering about on my face.
I could just use the cleanser and start my day, as my skin feels nourished on it own. However I have been following up with the pure moisture face cream. Which absorbs really quickly and leaves my skin feeling plump. I’ve previously used moisturisers that always leave my face feeling greasy and I feel like I have to wait before applying make up, but theres no wait time with this one.
My only downside would be that the moisturiser doesn’t contain any SPF, it’s not a deal breaker as I’ve just been applying a SPF afterwards. But this is something to consider if you prefer your daily SPF to be combined with your daily moisturiser.
I’m pretty happy to say my first experience with clean, green and organic beauty products has been pretty successful so far. My skin feels hydrated, glowy and healthy – let’s just hope I can keep this routine going!
