A New Vegan Menu at The Botanist

You must have been living under a rock to not have heard about The Botanist. It’s the place to eat in Newcastle, even though it’s been in Newcastle for over 3 years it’s still as popular as ever. So popular that every time I’ve tried to go it’s been super busy and I couldn’t get in. So when an email landed in my inbox asking if I’d like to come along and review their new vegan menu, I jumped for joy! As you may have seen previously I took part in Veganuary at the beginning of the year. I have…

Veganuary: Things I’ve Learnt Whilst Being Vegan For a Month

Is anybody else ecstatic that January is finally over? Probably. Now I usually enjoy the first couple of weeks of the month as I’m counting down to my birthday (I turned 26 on the 20th btw) but once that is over with I’m wishing the winter away and craving spring sunshine. Dining at 100ft with Chaophraya and S.Pellegrino   When the email arrived in my inbox inviting me along to Newcastle in the sky in collaboration with S.Pellegrino I instantly said yes.  I mean how often do you get the chance to dine 100ft in the air? We were told to…

Meet and Treat: Newcastle’s Hidden Gem

I adore food like I really love it. When I go anywhere new the first thing I do is find out where is good to eat, I can’t help myself, I’m a foodie. But I often forget to try new places in my own city and tend to always go to the same places which can get quite boring. Over the past year or so I have been trying to visit new places and try new food instead of my usual eateries all the time. Meet and Treat is one of those places that is quite hidden away and easy…

Hive Coffee Company at Jarrow Hall.

Last Thursday evening I attended the V.I.P launch of Hive Coffee Company, a cafe based in Jarrow Hall which opened at the weekend. The cafe is a collaboration between two friends, Eve McPadden and Sarah Daglish, and they’re helping bring the old Bede’s world site back to life. I remember visiting Bede’s world on a school trip in year 3 and was sad to hear of its closure. But thanks to the charity Groundwork the site has been re-launched in October 2016 as Jarrow Hall, Anglo-Saxon Farm, Village and Bede Museum. The cafe itself is based in Jarrow Hall, a…
